Statins make you old beyond your years
It’s the kind of thing that would have given Alfred Hitchcock nightmares.
Imaging swallowing a pill that starts to age you by 5 years… 10 years… or maybe more.
Suddenly you’re hobbling along in constant pain. Your vision is getting worse by the day. And you’re seeing new wrinkles everywhere.
But this isn’t some made-up drug from a Hollywood screenplay. In fact, you or someone you love may be taking it right now.
A terrifying new study proves that cholesterol-lowering statins are accelerating the aging process, leaving our bodies unable to repair themselves.
And that could leave you on a slippery slope to heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and even an early grave.
Old beyond your yearsIt’s the worst-kept secret about statins — and it’s one I’ve been warning you about for years.
Millions of people who have been forced onto statin meds, like Lipitor or Crestor for example, have learned fast that they’re practically old age in a pill.
Practically overnight, perfectly healthy people — some just in their 40s and 50s — started developing constant muscle pain, memory lapses, and even cataracts.
And lots of these side effects have one thing in common — they’re all conditions we normally associate with aging.
Well, it looks like scientists from Tulane University have finally solved the riddle. And they’re warning that if you take statins for too long, these drugs can age you faster than week-old guacamole.
Now before I tell you what happened, let me explain a little bit about stem cells. You’ve probably heard a lot about scientists using stem cells — including from fetal tissue — in research on everything from Alzheimer’s to cancer.
But the fact is, all of our bodies have stem cells, and they help us repair damage, make new cells, and fight the aging process.
And here’s the problem — when researchers exposed stem cells to statins, it was as if these vital cells went on strike. They completely stopped working!
The stem cells started rapidly aging and even dying off by the millions.
They could no longer manufacture crucial immune cells called macrophages that we need to fight off infections. The stem cells were even blocked from making replacement cells to repair our joints or new neurons for our brains.
That may explain why so many statins users are dealing with constant pain and embarrassing “senior moments.”
And the topper? Statins keep stem cells from repairing DNA.
That means everything from your skin to your heart, brain and lungs starts aging rapidly — and it can even put you on a slippery slope for cancer.
These drugs aren’t the fountain of youth we’ve been promised — they’re practically the antidote!
And as I’ve warned you before, sinking your cholesterol levels down to the basement comes with serious health risks all its own.
That’s because, contrary to what the mainstream wants us to believe, cholesterol is essential to our survival. Your brain, eyes, and muscles all require a steady supply of it to function properly.
And just this spring, a study found that lowering your cholesterol with statins can deplete your body of CoQ10 — an important energy source for your heart and other organs — and even put you on the fast track to a heart attack.
Let’s face it. If there was a dietary supplement causing as many health problems as statins, armed guards would be stripping it off of store shelves.
But the drug companies are making so much money off of statins — Crestor and Lipitor are now two of the top-selling meds in America — that they’ll never let that happen.
If you’re taking statins, talk to your doc about a plan to wean yourself off them for good. Remind him that Father Time is already pretty good at his job — and he doesn’t need an assist from Big Pharma.
