You can probably buy a dozen eggs for around $2. If you want some organic, free-range ones from frolicking hens, you can certainly get them for under $5.

But $30 million?

That’s the money being pumped into an insane plan to make a fake egg.

A group of Silicon Valley scientists are working feverishly on this idea right now. This “egg” (not!) is going to be composed of different legumes and grains to mimic the texture and taste (so they say) of a real chicken egg.

The three famous chefs involved in this fake-eggery business are saying it will actually be superior to an actual egg.

But $30 million???

Now investors are certainly free to spend their dollars anyway they want. It’s a free country after all.

But of all the things in the world where those millions could have an impact, trying to remake Mother Nature’s perfectly wonderful egg sure isn’t one of them.

The first prototype of this bean/grain egg has just been released. One reviewer said it tasted a little fake, needing to have a whole lot of cheddar sprinkled on it so it was edible.

Hmmm, I can’t imagine why that would be!
