While we’re on the subject of GM corn…

Corn on the cob is one of my favorite summertime treats.

And you may have heard the news that a couple of years ago Monsanto had unleashed another deadly product on the market — a GM sweet corn.

Sweet corn is the kind you can buy fresh in the supermarket on the cob.

But a recent study has found, that for the most part, sweet corn is still safe. That is unless you’re buying it in Canada.

An environmental group called Friends of the Earth decided to find out exactly how much of this new corn is being sold in the U.S.

It tested 71 samples of fresh, frozen and canned sweet corn from 8 locations around the country.

And it only found two samples that it confirmed to be the GM variety. One came from Colorado and the other from Massachusetts.

Even the samples from two Walmart stores were negative — even though Walmart had announced it was going to sell it.

Another study by a group in Canada didn’t get such good results.

It found that 15 of the 43 samples it tested from Canadian stores were GM corn.

Friends of the Earth said that Monsanto’s GM sweet corn “appears to be a big flop” in the U.S.

And certainly the more we boycott these Frankenfoods, the more of a flop they will become.
