Phones and tablets can be a heart and lung hazard!
Could all those electronic devices we’re always using be leading to heart and lung problems?
Experts are saying that all that time spent sending email’ texting or playing Candy Crush could be shortening your life — by shortening your stature.
A group of British chiropractors warns that activities like this tend to cause “forward-leaning posture.” And that’ they say’ could be as big a threat to longevity as obesity.
Staying in that position for prolonged periods can lead to a condition called hyperkyphosis’ which is linked to heart and lung problems.
By dropping our heads and rounding our shoulders’ we constrict our muscles and breathing’ warns a spokesperson for the group. That makes our hearts and lungs less able to function properly.
While the condition affects older people’ the amount of time younger folks spend on computers and smartphones puts them at risk of getting it at an earlier age.
But there is a fix. By holding electronic devices at eye level instead of looking down at them you can help prevent it.
And you can also use them less. But don’t try telling that to anyone under 30!
