For complete bone health, the top three must-take supplements are calcium, vitamin D, and…

If you said, “Vitamin K2,” you get a gold star. AND strong bones.

In a recent study, 180 micrograms of K2 daily was matched against a placebo. Those in the placebo group had a significantly greater decline in bone mineral density.

Sure, that’s impressive. But it could have been even more impressive.

The RDA for Vitamin K is 65 micrograms for women and 80 micrograms for men. So I’m impressed that the researchers dared to use a dose so much higher than the “norm.”

I don’t have to tell you, there’s a whole grandstand of worrywarts who fear that going above the RDA with any vitamin will cause the sky to fall.

Well, let them fret. We’re not worried. For years, Dr. Jonathan V. Wright has recommended 5 to 15 MILLIGRAMS of K2 per day.

Research has shown that higher doses of K2 — measured in milligrams — boosts bone mineral density.

Other bone-related issues — like bending and compression strength — also improve with generous doses of the indispensible K2.
