Yesterday I told you about new evidence that links statin use with a greatly increased cataract risk.

One thing is certain: Something was missing. And if you’re a type 2 diabetic who uses a statin, you might be surprised that the thing that was missing is…you.

Stronger, higher, faster

For years, doctors have known about the link between statins and cataract risk.

But now it comes with an unexpected bombshell.

For type 2 diabetics, cataract risk was much, much higher — more than 85 percent higher — than for diabetics who didn’t use statins.

That shock was bad enough. But one more finding made it even worse. Cataracts in diabetics who take statins actually progressed at a faster rate.

Diabetics are already at greater risk of cataracts and glaucoma. And diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in adults. So the LAST thing you need if you’re type 2 is your doctor handing you an Rx that puts your vision in serious jeopardy.

I’d like to tell you it couldn’t get any worse, but it does. That’s because most diabetics don’t need statins at all.

Yes…diabetes increases your risk of a heart condition…but statins do nothing to lower it. So don’t fall for the mainstream dogma. If your doctor tells you you need statins because you’re type 2, wait until you’re out of his office and then quickly tear up the Rx.

It’s the best thing you can do for your heart…and your eyes.
