“Osteoporosis meds don’t work without calcium and vitamin D.” No surprise — but the source of the quote IS surprising
“For bone strength and fracture prevention, do NOT take vitamin D and calcium supplements.”
If you’re thinking that makes no sense at all, you’re absolutely right. And that’s why you could never work for the US government.
Because that’s the guideline from our government “experts” at the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.
But here’s where it gets interesting…
The National Osteoporosis Foundation actually refuted the recommendation. (Seems someone is refusing to goose step.)
And even more surprising is this note from the NOF president… “Osteoporosis medications don’t work without calcium and vitamin D.”
The drugs don’t work without vitamin support!? There’s a newsflash!
The press release ended with this… “Never stop taking your supplements without checking with your doctor first.”
Hopefully other “health” organizations will follow their lead and serve us their constituents, and not just their masters.
