You know all those drug ads you see on TV 10 or 20 times per hour? Funny thing… They’re not really ads. No — they’re Public Service Announcements.

That’s right. They’re selflessly serving the public with helpful information. And believe it or not, drug companies get sweet tax breaks for airing those “PSA” commercials.

It’s beyond ridiculous, isn’t it? Drug giants make billions every year. And yet, they enjoy tax relief to offset advertising costs. It’s insane!

And at least one Congressman agrees.

Jerrold Nadler of New York just reintroduced the Say No to Drug Ads Act to eliminate those tax breaks. That’s right… “REintroduced.” He launched this bill once before in 2002.

Here’s how Nadler sizes it up… “Direct-to-consumer drug ads are not Public Service Announcements.”

Well put! But my favorite Nadler quote is this one… “Drug ads routinely treat mind-altering pharmaceuticals as cavalierly as candy bars.”

As cavalierly as candy bars. I’m going to enjoy that one for days.

I wish Nadler the best with his bill. But this IS our gridlocked Congress we’re talking about. And you can be sure that Big Pharma will release their flying monkeys to fight the bill tooth and nail.

Too bad there isn’t a drug that would make Congressmen stop doing stupid things like giving sweetheart tax breaks to fat drug giants.
