You know that “myth” about not being able to get the flu from a flu shot?

That myth just got Flublok’d.

Flublok is a new flu vaccine, approved by the FDA a few days ago.

The press release claims it’s the first vaccine made without growing influenza viruses. And that’s why it doesn’t have “any of the infectious risk traditionally associated with vaccine manufacture.”

Hmmm. That’s a little confusing. Over on flu.gov, the government tells us we CAN’T get the flu from a flu shot.

As I’ve mentioned before, the CDC considers “flu from a flu shot” to be the most persistent myth surrounding the flu vaccine.

Don’t look now, CDC. But this new kid — Flublok — is talking trash behind your back. Spreading that myth around.
