According to Dr. Robert Lustig, a dietary change works wonders in blood pressure control.

Bonus Number One… It doesn’t include soy.

Bonus Number Two… You’ll also reduce risk of cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

On 60 Minutes, Dr. Sanjay Gupta interviewed Dr. Lustig, a researcher and pioneer in the campaign against sugar.

For me, the interview boiled down to one important exchange. Dr. Lustig listed chronic diseases linked to sugar intake. Dr. Gupta asked if most cases of these diseases are preventable.

Dr. Lustig: “Seventy-five percent of it is preventable.”

That’s a staggering estimate. And I don’t doubt it for a minute.

Dr. Lustig’s primary message is simple. Sugar is toxic when consumed in large amounts. That’s exactly the way the majority of Americans consume it.

Health chaos is the result.

Thanks, 60 Minutes. We needed that.
