Want to increase your antioxidant intake?
Okay, you could put blueberries at the top of your shopping list, or you could snack on pecans, or you could cook a pot of red kidney beans or pinto beans or black beans.
What? You’re not a big fan of cooked beans? Then how about jelly beans?
In a recent visit to a grocery store I came across a display for pomegranate Jelly Bellys, touted as “high in antioxidant vitamin C.”
Sure! Why even bother with the produce section when you can get your antioxidants in a bean-shaped candy?
When I got home I checked the Jelly Belly web site (jellybelly.com) and found this helpful information: “Natural flavors make Pomegranate just as juicy and delicious as the beloved fruit itself. Best of all, Pomegranate is the first ever Jelly Belly jelly bean to be fortified with Vitamin C and antioxidants.”
Actual pomegranates? No longer necessary.
