When the label says “organic” is it really organic?

Not always. But there’s an easy way to get the real lowdown.

If you’re an organic food consumer, you might be interested in an eye-opening interview that “Health Ranger” Mike Adams conducted with Ronnie Cummins of the Organic Consumers Association. (You can find the full interview on Mike’s web site: newstarget.com.)

Mr. Cummins offers important information about several “organic” brands of milk. And while some might find the accusations startling, I’m sure most HSI members won’t be surprised that executives of large food corporations take advantage of loopholes that allow them to claim their products are “organic” when they’re actually not.

Ah, but that’s just the tip of a dirty iceberg. Mr. Cummins points out that the USDA devotes millions of our tax dollars each year to the subsidy of huge factory-style dairy farms where animals are not raised by true organic standards. Meanwhile, the agri-businessmen who run these farms are constantly pushing for lower organic standards.

The Organic Consumers Association web site – organicconsumers.org – offers excellent background research on organic brands and organic farms so that health-conscience consumers can find out which products are truly organic.
