Would you eat salmon that was genetically modified to grow twice as fast as normal salmon?

Smells pretty fishy, doesn’t it?

After a recent two-day FDA hearing about this new breed of genetically modified salmon, officials said they didn’t yet have sufficient data to determine if this GM fast-grower would be safe for consumers.

What in the world has gotten into the FDA? Up till now they never seemed to have a problem with the highly questionable safety of GM foods and poorly-researched drugs.

But here’s what one of the committee members told the New York Times: “I do get heartburn when we’re going to allow post-market surveillance to finalize our safety evaluation.”

How the heck did THAT guy get on an FDA committee!? They must not have told him that you approve first, and then consumers “volunteer” to conduct post-market safety evaluations.

Here’s what we REALLY need: More FDA officials who are prone to heartburn.

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
