Pfizer and Lilly are given a golden (and totally bizarre) opportunity

No he didn’t!

Sad to say–oh yes he did.

“The makers of Viagra would jump at the chance to sponsor the largest pole in North America.”

That prediction comes from a Toronto city official, commenting on a plan to, um, erect, a 410-foot-flag pole.

And why would you need a flag pole nearly 30 stories tall? Because the plan also calls for a Canadian flag the size of a football field. Apparently they expect Canadians to flock to Toronto to “ooh and ahh” at this insanely large flag, and the city will get a big boost in tourism.

But a flag (and a pole) like that is going to cost you. According to Canada’s National Post, one estimate puts the bill at $10 million.

That’s where Pfizer and Lilly come in.

Or rather, that’s where the Toronto official invited the companies to participate in the financing, based solely on the fact that both produce erectile dysfunction drugs.

Unfortunately, each company turned down this golden opportunity.

Just as well. The hearts of patriotic Canadians might not swell with pride to see their gigantic flag trimmed with lettering: “Brought to you in part by Cialis–be ready anytime the moment is right.”
