Take two aspirin and call Facebook in the morning?

One of my friends (in real life and on Facebook) posted this in her status update the other day:

“I think I may have just broke my pinky finger. Heard something snap, doesn’t hurt… But won’t lay flat. Any thoughts on what to do?”

Hmmm…maybe call a doctor?

When it comes to medical advice, unless you went to Hopkins, you probably don’t want opinions from those 127 “friends” you barely remember from college.

Especially since most people told her to just tape her pinky to her ring finger and it would probably be fine. But here’s her follow up:

“Just out of Doctors: I tore the tendon in the tip of my pinky finger completely. Finger splint for 4 weeks nonstop and have to see a hand surgeon. Called a mallet tear. Unreal!!!”

The moral of the story: using Facebook to see if old boyfriends look old and bald, sure. Using Facebook for medical treatment…maybe not the best strategy.

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
