I know a tree extract beating a proven cholesterol-lowering- prescription-medication seems a bit far-fetched. I must admit, I had my serious doubts too. In fact, when it came to heart disease I had serious doubts about there being anything “new” to say on the subject at all. Diet, exercise, lower cholesterol. We all know the drill.

So when I was approached about doing a book on heart disease I wasn’t too keen on the idea. True, William Fischer, best- selling author of “How to Fight Cancer & Win” hadn’t ever steered me wrong before, but “Haven’t we already heard everything there is to hear on the subject?” I mused. You can’t turn on the news these days without hearing another heart-health fact.

It wasn’t long before I was singing a different tune.
When I was told about the extract from a common Indian tree know as the mukul myrrh that is as effective as some common prescription drugs at lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels I demanded proof. Well, proof was what I got. I was shocked to find out that not only had this resin been successfully used in India to treat a variety of diseases since well before the middle ages, but that the extracts effectiveness had even been proven in double blind clinical trials!

So why hadn’t I ever heard about the miracle of this small- thorny tree? Could it be that the actual elements in the extract have not yet been successfully isolated and identified and without the potential of big profits there is not much chance of the big drug companies investing money in the study of the resin?

My curiosity was piqued and I asked for more. Turns out there were dozens of heart-healthy secrets I had never even heard of before. I was presented with page after page of solutions for fighting high blood pressure, reducing elevated cholesterol levels and their damaging side effects, and methods for preventing or reversing heart disease. Real-life answers like:

* The common breakfast beverage that can lower your diastolic blood pressure by 4.6% and your systolic blood pressure by 7%!

* The berry of this thorny shrub, often found in abandoned fields or at the edges of forests, which has been proven to be effective in treating the early stages of congestive heart failure. Users experience less shortness of breath, reduced ankle swelling, and an increased ability to tolerate exercise.

* The tasty foods that pack such a potent carotenoid punch that when they are added to your diet could potentially reduce your heart attack risk by up to an astonishing 75%!

And these are just a few of the powerful approaches for fighting heart disease that William Fischer presented to me that day. More details on these, and dozens of other heart secrets, visit:
