Having Surgery? The One Drug You Should NEVER Take
It’s one of the biggest scams in mainstream medicine today.
And every American senior scheduled for surgery could be at risk.
When you or someone you love needs an operation, it’s natural to be worried about managing the pain after.
And that’s when some friendly doctor or nurse comes along and promises you a “new” type of pain drug.
They’ll tell you this magic pill isn’t addictive – and it’s safer than opioids.
And if that all sounds too good to be true… well, it is.
It seems like mainstream doctors have somehow lost their minds, routinely prescribing an off-label medication for conditions it was NEVER meant to treat.
It doesn’t work. It could leave you in worse pain than ever. And it could even threaten your life.
You may have heard of the drug gabapentin before.
And it’s important to understand what gabapentin is… and what it’s NOT.
Because most mainstream doctors could use a refresher here, too.
Gabapentin is an anti-seizure medication. And it’s also been approved for very specific nerve pain after shingles.
That’s it. Nothing else.
But doctors have lost their minds – and their common sense – prescribing gabapentin “off label” for conditions where there is ZERO proof it works.
From 2010 to 2024, prescriptions for gabapentin soared by 143%, and doctors are handing it out like candy for arthritis, hot flashes, insomnia, anxiety, and just about anything else you can imagine.
And make no mistake about it. Doctors are prescribing this drug – which can be incredibly dangerous – based on the flimsiest of evidence.
They are putting good people at risk… including, now, surgery patients.
A recent study out of the UK looked at how well gabapentin works for controlling post-surgery pain.
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t. Because it was never designed to.
Just four weeks after surgery, patients handed gabapentin were in MORE pain than patients given a placebo.
That’s right… gabapentin was less effective than doing NOTHING.
But doctors are giving themselves carpal tunnel syndrome writing prescriptions for this stuff, claiming it’s safer than opioids.
That’s like trying to decide whether rat poison is safer than ant poison.
Gabapentin comes with a laundry list of side effects, like memory problems and weakness and dizziness that can lead to life-altering falls.
But beyond that, this is a drug that kills people every single year!
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed more than 5,600 overdose deaths where gabapentin was in a patient’s system. In 2020, 55% of those deaths were determined to be directly caused by gabapentin.
This is a drug – just like opioids – that can turn lethal in a hurry. And doctors can’t stop prescribing the stuff – even for surgery patients, where there’s no evidence it works.
Friend, like I said, mainstream medicine is completely out of control with gabapentin — so this is one situation where you need to look out for yourself.
If you or someone you care about is getting surgery and gabapentin is offered, ask for an alternative.
Skipping this drug won’t make your pain any worse… and it just may end up saving your life.
