What Are Biosimilars? The Medical Establishment’s Latest Copycat Drug Scheme
Folks, Big Pharma has cooked up yet another scheme—this time with biosimilars.
And they don’t just want you to take them… they’re training doctors on how to overcome your skepticism about them!
I recently came across a piece titled “Biosimilars in Rheumatology: Building Certainty and Reducing Reluctance”—and let me tell you, the title alone should raise red flags.
It’s part of a training program for doctors and specialists. Their goal?
To convince hesitant patients (that’s you!) to switch to from tried-and-true biologic drugs to these new, untested copies.
If you’re wondering what exactly a biosimilar is and how it could affect you, you’re in the right place.
Let me explain…
So when might you run into a biosimilar?
If you take a biologic drug—the kind used for arthritis, autoimmune conditions, or even some cancers—you might be told that it’s being switched to a biosimilar.
Doctors are being coached on how to convince you this new drug is “just as good” as the original.
But here’s the problem…
Think of them like a generic version of a biologic drug…but with a catch.
With traditional medications, generics are exact chemical copies of the original. Simple, straightforward.
Biosimilars, on the other hand, are NOT exact copies—more like a “close enough” version.
Imagine baking a cake—same ingredients, same process—but slight variations in texture or taste depending on the baker. That’s what’s happening here.
The end result is similar… but not exactly identical.
And here’s what they’re NOT telling you…
The official training programs are literally teaching doctors how to:
- Identify which patients can be switched to these new drugs
- “Engage patients” about their safety and efficacy (translation: CONVINCE you)
- Manage the inevitable treatment-related side effects
If biosimilars were truly interchangeable, would they need a whole new program just to get you on board?
Here’s the language they’re using:
- “Increasing knowledge”
- “Developing competence”
- “Building certainty”
This isn’t about your health.
This is a MARKETING STRATEGY designed to open a new revenue stream for pharmaceutical companies!
Traditional drugs are simple chemical compounds—easy to replicate.
Biologic drugs? A WHOLE different ballgame. They’re massive, complex molecules made from living organisms—bacteria, yeast, even animal cells.
They’re:
- Developed after the original drug’s patent expires
- Engineered to be VERY close to the original drug—but not identical
- Marketed as cheaper alternatives
- Potentially less predictable in how they affect you
Before accepting a biosimilar, ask:
How EXACTLY is this different from my current medication?
What long-term studies prove its safety?
Who benefits most from this switch? (Hint: Follow the MONEY)
Instead of jumping on the biosimilar bandwagon, consider an anti-inflammatory diet, targeted supplementation, holistic pain management, and lifestyle interventions that address root causes.
The medical establishment is working OVERTIME to overcome your natural skepticism. And when they have to train doctors to “reduce reluctance”… doesn’t that tell you everything you need to know?
Your body is NOT a pharmaceutical experiment. YOU are in control of your health.
Stay informed. Stay skeptical. Stay healthy.
