Merry Christmas!

If you’re gathering around the tree this morning, maybe watching your grandkids excitedly unwrap their gifts or reminiscing about years of cherished family traditions, let us share a new story that’s full of holiday hope…

And it starts with something you might already have hanging in your home: mistletoe.

Yes, the same plant that’s a symbol of love and holiday cheer is also showing some promise in the fight against cancer. A recent Phase I trial from Johns Hopkins University has given us some fascinating findings about mistletoe extract (known as Helixor-M).

Researchers found that mistletoe, when administered intravenously, helped some patients with advanced cancer stabilize their disease and improved their quality of life.

For people battling solid tumors after multiple rounds of chemo and other treatments, that’s no small thing.

The study looked at 21 patients with advanced cancers—like breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancer—who had already been through one to six prior therapies.

They received increasing doses of mistletoe extract, and while no tumors disappeared completely, here’s what happened:

  • 23% of patients had their disease stabilize (meaning no further tumor growth for about 15 weeks).
  • Some tumors even shrank.
  • Patients reported better quality of life, including increased energy and improved overall well-being.

In other words, mistletoe didn’t act like a silver bullet… but it did give many of these patients something they desperately needed: more time feeling better and more resilient.

The extract appears to work by stimulating the immune system and promoting anti-tumor activity in the body. Researchers observed signs of immune activation, which could explain why some patients saw their disease stabilize.

Mistletoe extract has been used for decades in Europe as a complementary therapy for cancer patients. It’s known for its ability to stimulate the immune system and help people tolerate traditional treatments, like chemotherapy, a bit better.

But in the U.S., it remains controversial and under-researched… until now.

This study marks a step forward, providing safety data and a roadmap for future research. As one of the authors explained, “The goal is to give patients not only more time but better time—time where they feel stronger, healthier, and more able to enjoy life.”

While mistletoe is no substitute for traditional treatments, this study highlights how powerful natural remedies can be when used thoughtfully.

And as research continues, who knows? Mistletoe might one day become a more common part of the cancer-fighting toolkit.

This holiday season, as we celebrate togetherness and health, it’s a great reminder that nature has incredible resources for supporting our bodies.

Whether it’s the immune-boosting power of mistletoe or simply nourishing your body with whole, healthy foods… nature often has our backs.

Stay warm, stay healthy, and Merry Christmas!

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
