The ultimate New Year’s resolution: Live 5 years LONGER!
Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays were full family, friends, and new memories.
Now that we’ve rung in 2024, you might be thinking about those New Year’s “resolutions”…
Maybe eating better… exercising more… or having a clearer mind.
Well, today I’ve got some more food for thought…
And this one involves a simple resolution that can add FIVE years to your life!
According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, eating high levels of omega-3 fatty acids (especially in oily fish like salmon) can contribute to a lifespan five years LONGER than the norm.
Researchers found that increasing your omega-3 levels just 1% reduces your risk of death just as much as quitting smoking!
Simply put, FAT can literally add five years to your life!
Now, the health benefits of omega-3s are well-documented, so this news should come as no surprise…
But the study also found that four types of fatty acids contribute positively to human life expectancy—including two SATURATED fatty acids!
This is important because most mainstream experts continually vilify saturated fats of any kind… even though research shows that fat in your diet helps you stay healthy.
Now, let me be clear…
These findings don’t mean you should chow down on huge amounts of fat every day… but eating ‘good’ fats on a consistent basis is beneficial for your health and longevity.
Eating fatty fish like salmon 1-2 days each week is a great (and tasty) way to ensure you’re getting enough omega-3s in your diet.
If you’re not keen on the taste of fish, you can also take omega-3 supplements. They are easily found at most grocery stores, pharmacies, and health food stores.
Your best bet when hunting for supplements is to look for reputable brands that are made from sustainably caught fish and go through rigorous testing (which is usually noted on the label).
To the good fats,
