Seasonal “fix” boosts your brain year-round!
We’re turning the corner from fall to winter…
Which means the influx of PUMPKIN flavored goodies you see in your grocery store or local coffee joint are slowly starting to fade.
But just because the pumpkin surge is dwindling, it doesn’t mean you should scratch it from your menu.
Because (when consumed correctly) this seasonal “fix” can do wonders for your brain.
Let me explain…
The natural spices that comprise pumpkin spice are PACKED with brain enhancing compounds!
Now, I don’t mean the artificial pumpkin spice flavoring found in lattes, doughnuts, and candy. These are LOADED with sugar and cause your waistline to balloon and your blood sugar levels to skyrocket…
I’m talking the traditional spices that are used to make the flavor—cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
Studies found that cinnamon reduces inflammation, improves memory, increases attention, and enhances overall cognitive processing.
And multiple studies around both ginger and nutmeg have been tied to protecting brain cells from the damage of Alzheimer’s disease and stroke.
And let’s not forget pumpkin itself0—which is loaded with vitamin A, antioxidants, and potassium which also promote overall brain health.
Buying these spices in their raw form is a simple and inexpensive to create your own, healthy, pumpkin spice blend that’s devoid of added sugars.
You can sometimes find pre-made pumpkin spice blends (with all the good stuff). Just avoid any brands with those added sugars or preservatives.
And try to avoid the processed pumpkin flavorings. They’re loaded with sugar and excess calories.
