Any kind of medical procedure that involves your HEART is serious business.

But heart surgery? Well, that’s a whole other beast.

It’s complicated… risky… and scary

Not to mention, the road to recovery is long and PAINFUL.

But if you’ve recently gone under the knife—or have heart surgery in your future—today I have the screen about a natural, fragrant oil that can help ease the pain afterwards.

A new study published in the online journal BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care says that peppermint oil aromatherapy can help stop the pain that comes with post-heart surgery.

And, as you can imagine, the pain that comes with heart surgery is intense.

But this latest study indicates that peppermint oil can expedite recovery.

The study examined over 60 heart patients who were randomly assigned post-surgery treatment with peppermint oil or distilled water. Treatments were given 30 minutes before the removal of their breathing tube and then 3X daily using a nebulizer until the second night after their procedure—for a total of 7 doses.

Using standard scales to measure changes in overall pain severity, the researchers found that after just two days, the average pain score in the peppermint oil group was 3.22—much LOWER than the 4.56 score in the group who didn’t get peppermint oil.

In other words, they started feeling BETTERQUICKER!

Remember, any type of surgery—especially heart surgery—requires meticulous recovery that needs to be followed diligently. But, if you do require heart surgery, talk to your doctor about peppermint oil as part of your overall treatment plan.

To heart recovery,

Sarah Reagan
