HEARING LOSS!

Researchers who led the study examined over 500,000 people ranging from ages 40 to 69 over a three-year period. They specifically looked at levels of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)—the main component of omega 3s—and study participants’ self-reported hearing capabilities, including:

  • Difficulty hearing
  • Challenges understanding conversation amid background noise
  • Use of a hearing aid

The study concluded that the folks who had the HIGHEST levels of DHA in their blood were LESS LIKELY to experience age-related hearing problems.

In fact, the data from the three-year study found that that people with higher DHA levels were 8-20% less likely to report hearing difficulties… and were also less likely to have issues following conversations in a noisy environment or require the use of hearing aids.

That’s a pretty darn good reason to take omega-3s!
