As I write this, it’s HOT where I live… and the sun is already BEATING DOWN like it’s the middle of the summer.

My neighbor went so far as to tell me earlier today…

Time to whip out the sunscreen!

She wasn’t entirely wrong.

After all, protecting your skin to reduce your risk of SKIN CANCER is a year-round affair.

BUT before you cover yourself from head-to-toe, or head to your local pharmacy for the ‘latest-and-greatest’ creams or lotions that promise to keep your skin healthy and protected…

You may want to take a quick trip to your grocery store!

That’s because research has discovered that an easy “regularity” trick can decrease your risk of skin cancer by as much as 30% — without applying a single dollop of chemical-laden conventional sunscreen!

According to a study published in the journal Science, eating a diet high in FIBER can help prevent melanoma – a type of skin cancer – from progressing.

In fact, the study found that for every 5-gram increase in daily consumption of fiber was associated with a 30% lower risk of cancer progression.

So, even if you’ve been dealt a skin cancer diagnosis, increasing your fiber intake can help your immune system respond better to treatments.

It’s no secret that eating fiber on a daily basis is good for you, but what’s the connection between fiber and your skin?

Well, studies show that people who eat more fiber have a healthier gut microbiome – which can help increase the healthier fatty acid profile in your skin, meaning their skin is more moisturized, hydrated, and protected.

And here’s more good news…

If you’re struggling to find ways to add fiber to your diet, it doesn’t mean you need to take bland, boring fiber supplements.

In fact, there are plenty of easy ways to increase your fiber intake without skimping on the taste.

Your best bet to adding more fiber to your diet is to stick with whole-food sources of carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables. A few strawberries at breakfast, or even a small spinach salad at dinner is a simple way to up your fiber intake without having to give your diet a complete overhaul.

And to really amp up your gut health, be sure to take a high-quality, daily probiotic supplement. This will ensure all the good bacteria in your gut FLOURISH.

Lastly, when it comes to protecting your skin from the sun’s UV rays, opt for layers or use a natural, mineral sunscreen.

To protecting your skin from the inside,

Sarah Reagan
