MORE sleep can become a serious health hazard?!
Is there any better feeling than waking up from a great night’s SLEEP?
You feel REFRESHED… RECHARGED… and ready to TAKE ON the day.
Even better, a study published late last month by researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston found that good rest reduces the risk of death from any cause by up to 30%!
I showed this to a friend, who said she actually gets MORE than 8 hours of sleep per night. And, in her words…
“This must mean I’m really doing it right!”
Well, I didn’t want to burst her bubble… but I informed her that getting MORE sleep isn’t always better for you in the long run.
Here’s why.
A study out of Boston University found that if you tend to sleep longer and consistently, you could be upping your chance of developing DEMENTIA.
Now you might be wondering, how can too much sleep be a bad thing?
(That’s exactly what my friend said)
But that’s just what the research shows…
After studying more than 2,400 participants, researchers found that those who slept nine hours or more a night had DOUBLE the risk of developing dementia than those who slept less than nine hours.
So, while getting a good night’s rest is good for your overall health… getting TOO much sleep for days on end could be detrimental for your brain.
When it comes to sleep and brain health… it’s all about QUALITY over quantity.
This means sleeping hard (without interruption) and not just lying in bed.
If you need help with that, consider taking a magnesium supplement.
Magnesium is a mineral involved in hundreds of processes in your body, and is important for brain function. It can also help quiet your mind and body, making it easier for you to fall asleep.
Studies show that magnesium’s relaxing effect may be partly due to its ability to regulate the production of melatonin, which is your body’s internal hormone that signals it’s time to sleep.
Reliable supplements can be found at health food stores and online retailers.
To quality sleep for your health,
