Maybe you drink it for a morning ‘pick-me-up’… or you just love the taste and aroma.

Whatever the reason, drinking coffee is a great way to boost your overall health.

In fact, a hot cup of Joe not only tastes good… but provides a bevy of health benefits, like:

  • Lowering your risk of diabetes
  • Burning unwanted fat
  • And even protects you against Alzheimer’s and dementia.

But here’s something you may not know about coffee…

There’s a specific way you need to make it for it to be the ‘healthiest’ version you’ll ever drink… and I’ve got the science to prove it!

Drinking FILTERED coffee is not only the healthiest version of coffee… but also the safest.

Yep, just like there’s more than one way to skin a cat… there’s more than one way to brew coffee!

A study published by the European Society of Cardiology examined the links between coffee brewing methods and heart attack and death risk and found that filtered brew is safest.

In fact, a cup of unfiltered coffee contains about 30 times the concentration of the lipid-raising substances compared to filtered coffee.

Which means unfiltered coffee can raise your cholesterol… which is bad news for your overall heart health.

Ok, so what steps can you take to ensure that you’re harnessing the power of filtered coffee?

If you brew coffee from a traditional coffee pot or machine, be sure to opt for paper filters.

Reusable, metal filters have become a popular way to filter coffee. And while they can be washed in your dishwasher, they are simply not fine enough to catch everything that is poured into them.

This means those cholesterol-raising substances can sneak through into your cup.

Meanwhile, paper filters are much finer and can filter out those heart-destroying chemicals.

If you’ve ever shopped for paper coffee filters, you know that there are a lot of options.

I opt for unbleached filters – which are the filters that have that don’t have a bright, white color. Unbleached filters are less processed than bleached filters and are generally considered healthier.

If you’re unsure about what filters are bleached vs. unbleached, be sure to read the label. It will say whether or not it’s gone through a bleaching process.
