Sleep BETTER in 2023 with a NATURAL sleep aid
I’m a few days late, I hope this new year brings you nothing but health and happiness!
And if you’re already starting to tackle some of those New Year’s resolutions to become a healthier “you” …
Keep it going!
Whether you’re aiming to stay more active… eat better… or simply “declutter” your mind…
There’s one key to getting it all accomplished…
A recent study hit the nail on the head when they looked at folks with New Year’s resolutions. They found a common denominator when it came to achieving their goals.
Getting plenty of SLEEP!
So today I’ve got the scoop on a natural sleep aid that help you stay in control of your health this year.
(Plus, how much you can safely take – despite what the naysayers will tell you.)
When it comes to anything – from larger goals to day-to-day activities – SLEEP is a key player.
Take losing weight for example (which is always a popular New Year’s resolution). Studies have found that a LACK of sleep decreases leptin – the hormone that makes you feel full. So without enough leptin… your hunger cues could in overdrive.
It also boosts ghrelin – the ‘hunger hormone’ which increases appetite, promotes fat storage, and causes poor food choices.
Whereas quality sleep improves your fitness, mental focus, and even helps you maintain a better social life.
It’s so simple… but too many people over-complicate things when it comes to better sleep.
More often than not, the answer isn’t an expensive mattresses, swanky pillows, or white noise.
The link to better sleep often lies with MELATONIN.
I’ve talked at length about the numerous health benefits of daily melatonin – benefits all backed by countless hours of research.
Melatonin doesn’t just help you get into that sleep “sweet spot” …
It also helps your immune system, blood pressure, and even works to eliminate HEARTBURN.
But a recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association is putting a negative spin on melatonin…
It claims that too many people are going above the recommended “limit” of 5 mg of melatonin per day.
The study found that:
- In total, only 2.1% of people use melatonin…
- And, a miniscule 0.28% of folks take more than 5 mg of melatonin per day!
By that logic, anyone who buys a couple lotto tickets each week has a gambling addiction!
Here’s the bottom line…
The typical dose of melatonin is 3 mg per day. Occasionally you will find some manufactures that have 5 mg doses… but for the most part, the typical dosage for melatonin is 3 mg.
Now, what happens if you happen to occasionally take a little “more” than that 3-5 mg range?
You might sleep in the next day… be a little groggy… or maybe have a headache or something.
But you certainly won’t be deemed a druggie or completely wreck your health.
That being said, I DO encourage you to stick to the recommended dosage. Steer clear exceeding 3-5 mg for a prolonged period of time.
And if you have any questions about how much you should take or are thinking about starting a melatonin regimen, talk to your doctor. Many folks start with less than 3 mg per day and work their way up.
