“Sweet” trick STOPS menopause weight gain? [Ladies, rejoice!]
Ladies, when it comes to menopause, accepting all of the miserable realities of “the change”‘ doesn’t have to be your new NORM.
Your HORMONES are out-of-whack… and you’re flaming with HOT FLASHES.
And what about those EXTRA POUNDS that seem to magically appear during menopause?
Well, as often as you’re told that menopause-related weight gain is just a “welcome to the rest of my life” situation… IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE!
Even The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) said earlier this month that women are NOT doomed to gain weight in their later years.
So, ladies… before you think packing on the pounds just comes with the territory, I’ve got the scoop on a “sweet” trick that could help turn the tables on menopause.
Back in 2016, researchers tested LICORICE root powder in female mice that had their ovaries removed – which can lead to similar low-estrogen conditions as women going through menopause.
They fed the mice normal or high-fat diets and treated some of them with licorice root.
It didn’t matter which diet the rodents were on. If they were “menopausal” and eating, they gained weight…
But when licorice root was introduced, the weight gain SLOWED DOWN.
In fact, the study found that the mice treated with licorice gained LESS WEIGHT. In fact, licorice-treated mice on a “normal” diet gained barely any weight at all… less than 5 grams in five weeks.
And the high fat diet?
No surprise here… all of those mice gained weight.
But when some of those mice were treated with licorice root power, they finished the study more than 5 grams LIGHTER than their untreated friends!
Now, we’re not talking your typical Halloween-candy licorice – it’s the root extract that gives the candy it’s classic, dark color that has the good stuff.
Look for licorice tea or licorice root capsules from a health food store near you.
The study I mentioned earlier was done on animals, but it’s still worth having a conversation about with your doctor. Eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise are the foundations of keeping weight off.
If you do supplement with licorice root, be sure to only follow the dosage instructions on the product label.
