‘Clove trick’ helps WARD OFF the suffering of menopause
Friend, it’s time for us to talk woman-to-woman. (Sorry, guys.)
All the way back when your first started your cycle, the women in your life likely referred to it as “the curse.”
And DECADES later when your cycle stopped… they called it going through “the change.”
But if you’ve SUFFERED through menopause… or maybe you’re STILL suffering through it…
You know that it can FEEL like a curse! It’s almost bad enough to make you wish you could get your periods again.
Menopause ISN’T easy. It presents a rogues’ gallery of symptoms and health challenges.
But it doesn’t have to make you MISERABLE.
After all, these are SUPPOSED to be the BEST years of your life – when you can finally be carefree!
So today, I’m here to share a culinary secret that may help SOFTEN the blow.
It’s been a long time since anyone SERIOUSLY used a garlic braid to ward off vampires…
But that’s not the ONLY ancient ritual associated with this pungent bulb!
Traditional medicine in India and even Iran have used it as a natural treatment… for AGES!
In fact, Hippocrates, the father of “modern medicine,” suggested prescribing garlic for MANY illnesses.
Now, menopause isn’t an ILLNESS, per se…
But its hallmark symptoms, like hot flashes, could make you feel like GARBAGE.
Believe it or not, some women around the world… even in THIS country… eat a clove of raw garlic a day just to COOL OFF!
There’s more…
Because the loss of estrogen associated with menopause could have SERIOUS health ramifications… like THINNING bones.
Fortunately, garlic helps BOOST estrogen levels, thanks to its content of plant estrogens (a.k.a. phytoestrogens).
And that could help STAVE OFF the bone loss that often strikes older gals.
In a 2017 study out of Iran, women who supplemented with garlic tablets saw REDUCED biomarkers of estrogen deficiency… and IMPROVED calcium absorption.
But low estrogen is a culprit behind even more than DECLINING bone mineral density.
It could also cause older gals to gain weight. Fortunately, garlic could also help fight obesity.
A 2012 study out of Korea showed how aged garlic extract could help post-menopausal women IMPROVE their body fat percentage… and even LOWER their BMI.
The key seems to lie in the sulfur-containing compound allicin, which is released when garlic cloves are chopped or crushed.
That’s where that telltale garlicky smell comes from!
Allicin is also a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory…
But it’s not the ONLY active compound in garlic… which is why traditional medicine often recommends the WHOLE herb instead of an isolated extract.
According to research (some on animals), even more garlic benefits for menopausal women could include: LESS brain fog (a.k.a. “menopause brain”)
IMPROVED lipid profile
REDUCED cardiovascular risk.
Now, some older folks have some trouble digesting raw or even cooked garlic…
So supplements could offer a potent dosage WITHOUT the belly troubles… and in an optimized form that makes it easy for your body to use.
Look for one that’s been standardized to contain a certain percentage of allicin.
Keep in mind that garlic could also LOWER your blood sugar… so check with your doc before combining it with any diabetes meds or blood sugar-lowering herbs.
