WARNING: Big trouble BREWING at your local pharmacy?
It’s one of the BIGGEST scandals in medicine – one they really don’t want to TALK about.
Because they don’t want you to WORRY…
They won’t want you to PANIC…
And they don’t want you to LOSE TRUST in them.
So, they speak about it only behind the scenes… in hushed voices… and hope the general public NEVER finds out.
But a series of recent and little-seen reports tells the story.
It’s a problem at the pharmacy – but for once, it’s NOT the meds themselves (at least, we don’t THINK it’s the meds).
It’s the industry… and how it CHEWS UP and SPITS OUT pharmacists.
And since pharmacists are the LAST line of protection between you and some NASTY medication problems… that could leave you EXPOSED to danger, too.
Ever sit there at the pharmacy, waiting FOREVER for your prescription?
The pharmacist could be busy with other customers. Or they could be on the horn with your doc in the back room – saving both YOU and YOUR DOCTOR from a MAJOR mistake.
They spot issues like wrong drugs… wrong doses… allergy problems… recalls… interactions… and more…
ALL the time.
And what do they get for their trouble? Probably a migraine!
So, I’m not at all surprised to see that the pharmacy industry is practically COLLAPSING… as workers flee those often THANKLESS and UNDERPAID gigs.
One recent report finds 80% of pharmacies are short of their one most essential ingredient: actual pharmacists.
Even $50,000 bonuses can’t lure them to work in some places!
Another report finds 21% turnover in pharmacy technicians… while according to another, 1 in 20 hospitals and health systems lost more than 41% of their technicians.
Hmmm… gotta wonder… is it the pressure of the job? Or do these folks KNOW SOMETHING about what they’re selling… and they’re just not willing to do it anymore?
Probably a little of both.
But it certainly doesn’t help that it’s a THANKLESS and HIGH-STRESS job where they could get the blame for a doctor’s mistake – and that pressure has led to ANOTHER tragedy exposed in a new study.
Pharmacists are about a THIRD more likely to commit suicide than the general public.
Again, I’m not here to knock these guys and gals.
Pharmacists and pharmacy techs often the TRUE heroes of any hospital or healthcare system.
But because they’re SO stressed out…
Because they’re SO short-staffed…
And because they’re often FORCED to put trainees and such into essential roles they shouldn’t be allowed near….
You need to CHECK YOUR MEDS carefully.
DOUBLE-CHECK the label… the dose… the duration… etc. And if an old drug you’ve been taking forever suddenly looks different… ask before taking it.
You can even use Google to look for a pic of any new med you’re taking to see if the pill in your hand matches what it’s SUPPOSED to look like.
But don’t stop there…
As long as we’re on the topic… this is an EXCELLENT opportunity to totally remove yourself from any potential mistakes by DITCHING unnecessary meds whenever possible.
Don’t quit anything on your own, of course.
But if you work closely with a naturopathic or integrative physician, you may be able to swap meds for natural options… ELIMINATING some or even all of your prescriptions.
They can’t SCREW UP your meds if you’re not taking any!
