DEADLY risk linked to certain devices for this KILLER sleep disorder
Your spouse taps you on the shoulder and asks you to roll over…
Because you’re at it again. You’re snoring up a STORM.
Roaring like a chainsaw while you sleep is a sign you might have sleep apnea…
And that’s a serious medical issue that’s been linked to cognitive decline… heart problems… and even performance issues.
Statistics show that this sleep disorder could even be a KILLER – and not just from cardiovascular death.
Moderate-to-severe sleep apnea has been associated with an increased risk of death from ANY cause!
The good news is that CPAP machines have been shown to not only help apnea patients KEEP breathing while they sleep… and STAY asleep rather than waking up chocking for air…
But also DODGE early death.
Unfortunately, these devices aren’t ALL lifesavers…
Because the latest urgent warning from the feds highlights how some of them could be downright DEADLY.
Last year, Dr. Allan Spreen shared with you how sleep aid device maker Philips Respironics voluntarily RECALLED certain models of its CPAP machines… as well as BiPAP machines and ventilator devices.
The concern at the time was a sound-muffling foam that could release cancer-causing chemicals into the airflow… presumably to be BREATHED IN by the apnea patient using the machine.
That prompted the feds to slap a “Class One” label on the recall – making it the MOST SERIOUS of its kind.
But this story has gotten even DARKER…
Because now Philips has admitted to its shareholders that the U.S. Department of Justice has gotten involved… and is digging even DEEPER…
And the FDA has just announced that among the more than 21,000 medical device reports it received between April 2021 and April 2022…
124 of them included DEATHS thought to be directly associated with the cancer-causing foam.
Now, these reports come from a lot of different sources – not only the device maker, but also healthcare workers, caregivers, and the patients themselves.
And because many of those who report adverse events do it on a voluntary basis… it’s generally assumed that there are a lot more of them out there that go UNREPORTED.
Friend, don’t be one of the sleep apnea patients who could get seriously INJURED… or even tragically KILLED… by one of these machines.
Philips has created a website for information about the device recall… including the names of the MANY models affected by it. Google “Philips recall registration” and click to find out how to register your model and, more importantly, get rid of it.
This gets even WORSE…
Because this recall is so WIDESPREAD… Philips doesn’t have the parts or the machines to either FIX or REPLACE all the recalled devices right away.
In the meantime…
- DON’T try to remove the foam from your device, as that could make it break apart and spread the cancer-causing particles even MORE.
- DON’T try to clean your device, even if you see black debris in the tubing or masks (which has been reported by other users). Certain cleaning methods may also make the situation worse.
- DON’T stop using your device without checking with your doc first. I can’t in good conscience tell you to KEEP using a recalled sleep aid device (which is what patients are being told) — not when some folks may have DIED from using it. But you’ll need a backup plan to help you sleep so you’re not left in the lurch.
There are, of course, OTHER models of devices from OTHER makers… as well as some “sleep hacks” that might help you breathe more easily as you sleep (like lying down in an elevated position).
Losing weight could help address the root cause of your apnea… but that’s not a “quick fix” when you need help sleeping (and breathing) NOW.
For more immediate gratification, try also AVOIDING alcohol… and making sure you’re getting ENOUGH vitamin D.
