Friend, no matter how old you are… you want to keep your brain YOUNG.

If you’re already the sharpest tool in the shed… you want to make sure you STAY that way.

And if those “senior moments” and “brain burps” have already started to set in…

Now’s your chance to keep them from getting any WORSE.

Sure, you can flex that ol’ brain muscle by playing brain games… completing the daily crossword… or competing on the latest app (Wordle, anyone?).

And you can consume nutrients that could FEED your brainpower.

But you’ve got to combine your OFFENSE with a little DEFENSE…

Because there’s a MENACE out there that could be DRAINING older folks of their cognitive function!

Here’s what you need to know… and how you can get ahead of this potential threat.

HSI Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Allan Spreen recently shared how the use of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs has been associated with memory loss…

But as it turns out, those aren’t the ONLY memory-sapping meds we’ve got to worry about!

The latest news points the finger at one of the most commonly-prescribed drugs out there – antibiotics.

According to a new study from Harvard researchers, older gals who’d taken antibiotics the longest over the past 7 years, on average, were more likely to develop cognitive decline.

When they looked at cognitive scores of participants in their 60s, it appeared as though their brains had aged an EXTRA 3 or 4 years… compared to those who’d NEVER taken them or who’d taken shorter courses of them.

Now, “long-term” use, according to the study, was shorter than you might think.

Those women with accelerated brain aging had been on antibiotics for any time period longer than 2 months while they were in their 50s!

That’s pretty scary… considering how many middle-aged and older women are prescribed round after round of antibiotics for persistent or recurrent infections…

Like Lyme disease… UTIs… and more.

But most mainstream docs don’t consider the RISKS of antibiotic overuse… or believe that the benefits OUTWEIGH the risks.

I’m not just talking about the development of drug-resistant superbugs…

Because these bacteria-killing drugs have also been linked to other conditions, like asthma and respiratory ailments… psoriasis… and more.

See, when antibiotics WRECK your microbiome… it doesn’t just give you digestive symptoms like an upset stomach or diarrhea.

MESSING with your gut flora could also IMPEDE your immune defenses…

And SABOTAGE your gut-brain axis… which is, my guess, what’s going on with the link to cognitive decline.

That’s why antibiotics have also been linked to mood disturbances… and even psychiatric problems.

Friend, don’t get me wrong – the discovery of antibiotics changed the course of modern medicine. There’s no doubt that they’ve saved PLENTY of lives.

And sometimes, antibiotics are absolutely necessary and shouldn’t be refused.

But too often, antibiotics are used as a first line of defense… even in situations where they WON’T help, like viral infections.

We need to have other tools in our arsenal.

So the next time your doc begins to scribble out a prescription for an antibiotic… ask him if there’s anything else you can do first.

And if he doesn’t listen to your concerns… try consulting an integrative doc, who’s more likely to have more non-drug tricks up his sleeve.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
