Could this ‘bog berry’ help BANISH stiff arteries?
As we get older, it’s normal for our blood vessels to get a little thicker… and even a little stiffer.
That’s usually why blood pressure readings tend to rise somewhat with age.
But it’s something we need to keep our eyes on…
Because our vessel health DIRECTLY impacts our heart health.
And if our vessels get TOO THICK… or harden TOO MUCH… it could OVERWORK the heart!
Fortunately, there’s a way to keep aging vessels IN THEIR PRIME.
And it comes from a surprising source — a Thanksgiving staple that we should appreciate all year long!
Cranberries are SO beneficial for pee problems… even the FDA has been FORCED to acknowledge how could help beat back urinary tract infections!
And as I recently shared with you right here in eAlert, they could also help beat back cases of overactive bladder.
But as it turns out, their benefits extend BEYOND the urinary system – because according to a new study out of Europe, these tart berries could also support vessel health!
In the study, a small group of healthy guys consumed whole cranberry powder on a daily basis over the course of one month.
In as little as 2 hours, they experienced significant improvements in flow-mediated dilation (FMD)…
And that improvement LASTED the entire duration of the study.
FMD is a measure of how flexible the vessels are – whether they can widen (or “dilate”) to accommodate more blood flowing through.
Trust me – you WANT your vessels to stay RELAXED enough to “go with the flow”!
The key seems to be the presence of substances called A-type proanthocyanidins (A-PACs)… which also help contribute to the antibacterial action of cranberries.
Other types of proanthocyanidins can be found in other berries and fruits… but the “A-type” ones are less common.
Look for whole cranberry powder at your local health food store or online… or cranberry extract in supplement form.
The dosage used in the study I just mentioned was the equivalent of 9 grams (or 9,000 mg) of cranberry.
Cranberry is safe to take for most healthy folks… but you shouldn’t mix it with blood-thinners…
And it could contribute to the formation of kidney stones… especially if you have a tendency towards developing them.
