Friend, we don’t think about our kidneys much – at least, not until something goes WRONG with them.

But today, I’d like to shine a light on these VITAL organs… and how to keep them healthy, even when they’re in the crosshairs for disease… or even FAILURE.

In Western medicine, we know how the kidneys are WORKHORSE organs… essential to filtering out toxins and regulating bodily fluids.

But according to TCM theory, the kidneys are where our bodies store much of our life force… and are CRUCIAL to maintaining our vitality.

So, it’s clear why the Chinese have focused A LOT of attention on these organs in their traditional medicine!

For over 2,000 years, Chinese herbalists have been using one star ingredient to RESCUE kidney health…

And there’s modern-day science to BACK UP that traditional use, too.

Commonly known as “Chinese foxglove,” the flowering herb rehmannia (Rehmannia glutinosa) was named after Joseph Rehmann — a 19th-century German physician who settled in Russia.

But in Traditional Chinese Medicine… which considers it considers rehmannia root one of its 50 fundamental herbs… it’s called “Sheng Di Huang.”

More than 70 active compounds have been identified in rehmannia…

But the most important one appears to be a substance called catalpol… which helps EXTINGUISH inflammation and could even help LOWER blood sugar.

That could be what helps rehmannia SHIELD against the kidney damage that STRIKES diabetics – a.k.a. diabetic nephropathy.

In a 2018 study out of China on animal subjects with diabetic nephropathy, rehmannia helped REVERSE kidney tissue changes…

NORMALIZE clinical markers of the disease, including creatinine levels…

And BANISH inflammation!

That’s not all…

In one in vivo study on real people, rehmannia extract helped the conventional nephropathy drug irbesartan WORK BETTER at reducing excess protein in the urine.

And research even shows how rehmannia could help in cases of kidney FAILURE.

Rehmannia may be EXTRA interesting for diabetics to try… as it helps BEAT BACK the production of advanced glycation end products (AGEs). Those are the byproducts of excess sugar metabolism – ones that tend to contribute to diabetic complications.

Note that Traditional Chinese Medicine rarely uses ANY herb on its own… but rather blends several together to treat whatever ails you.

In TCM, rehmannia is often combined with other herbs like astragalus…

Or included in multi-herb formulas like one called “Rehmannia Six” (a.k.a. Liuwei Dihuang Pills).

A certified Chinese herbalist can work to create the IDEAL combination for your particular situation.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
