Here’s what happens when you go ‘plant-based’ [They WON’T tell you this!]
I can’t think of any phrase worse than “plant-based diet.”
It’s like an IOU-based wallet!
SWITCH to this diet yourself… and you’ll be BANKRUPT where it matters most…
Because your body considers fresh meat and dairy money in the bank.
And when you fall short in those, you’ll come up short in the one thing you can’t get for all the cash in the world — good health.
Yet the mainstream is out in force, pushing this on the masses…
Including a major report in The Washington Post whose headline says that “a plant-based diet is the best way to avoid heart disease.”
Talk about FAKE news!
So, let me sort the wheat from the meat on this…
Because there are a few things about the “plant-based diet” that the glowing reports in the media are LEAVING OUT.
Hey, I got nothing at all against veggies. I eat plenty of ’em myself!
But when you make a conscious decision to eat mostly or, worse yet, ONLY plants… you’re setting yourself up for some major health issues.
And the same people pushing this diet aren’t so quick to talk about those MASSIVE problems.
The report in The Washington Post is nearly 1,500 words long… yet the word “protein” appears only 2X… and almost in passing.
Hmmmm… could there be a reason they don’t want to talk about that???
You better believe there is…
Because it’s just about the BIGGEST GAP in this diet… and it’s one that simply CAN’T be corrected, no matter how many plants you try.
See, protein is a collection of essential amino acids – and some just DO NOT EXIST in useful levels in beans and peas.
Take leucine and isoleucine, for example. They’re both CRUCIAL to protein synthesis, muscle, energy and blood sugar regulation… and they’re both PLENTIFUL in meat.
But you won’t find much at all in a plant-based diet.
You can get ALL your isoleucine for the day from just 3.5 ounces of steak, chicken, pork, or tuna.
The same amount of tofu (BLECH!) will give you about HALF of that… and peas just 15%.
It’s even WORSE for leucine… where you’d need a pound or so of peas to get what you need.
Just TRY to imagine a pound of peas rolling around in your belly without feeling SICK!
That may be the BIGGEST gap… but it’s only the FIRST one.
The second one is the phrase “vitamin B12”… which doesn’t appear AT ALL in The Washington Post’s report.
And that’s a MASSIVE omission.
Because B12 is critical to nerve function… mood… memory… and more. And once again, going green will leave you empty.
It’s also tough to get other essentials… like iron, calcium, and vitamin D.
I’m not done yet… because there’s a THIRD gap you need to know about.
And guys? This one’s for you.
The vegetarian lifestyle will change what it means to be a man… with one recent study showing its low-fat content could cause testosterone levels to PLUNGE by 26% .
I know you’ve seen a lot of rosy headlines about how vegetarians have a lower risk of this, that, and some other thing.
Some studies even claim the veg-heads live longer.
But let me pull back the curtain… because in most of those studies, there’s a neat little trick they like to pull.
They put vegetarians up against EVERYONE else!
For all the faults of the diet, veggie-eaters are typically more health-conscious than your “average Joes”… who, let’s face it, aren’t exactly all that conscious about health.
I’ll put it this way…
If you put a plant-based diet up against a McDonald’s-based diet, OF COURSE the plants look better!
If you have a good REASON to go vegetarian… or maybe you just don’t like meat or whatever… then I’m not gonna stand between you and your tofu.
Just make sure you know the problems and adjust accordingly… which may mean more supplements than most people take.
And if you LOVE your steak night… don’t let anyone try to take that fork and knife outta your hand.
It’s YOUR life. Enjoy every meal!

Dr. Allan Spreen
