When arthritis begins to take hold… the joint pain can feel like TORTURE.

And you can’t for the life of you figure out what you’ve done to DESERVE such punishment!

You’d do ANYTHING for some relief. At least, that’s what you tell yourself.

But would you try an ancient Egyptian ritual — one that involves FLOGGING yourself with a batch of leaves?

And not just ANY leaves – but ones that have been so DEMONIZED, they’re known as the “devil’s plaything” and “scorpion grass”?

Friend, it’s not as scary as it sounds…

And it’s surprisingly effective!

Do you DARE touch this prickly plant?

I’ve shared with you before how nettle (Urtica dioica) is considered a WEED in this country…

But elsewhere in the world, some cultures eat it like a green, leafy vegetable.

And it’s been used as medicine since Roman times!

Nettle leaf is a potent anti-inflammatory… which explains why it’s used for allergies and other respiratory conditions.

So it should come as no surprise that this leafy green could also help beat back arthritis pain.

In one study, folks with osteoarthritis discomfort in their fingers applied raw nettle leaves where it hurt… and experienced significantly LESS pain and disability after just one week.

Now, normally you’d want to AVOID touching nettle… because its leaves are covered in tiny hairs that “sting” you upon contact.

But in this case, the harmless “stingers” appear to contribute to nettle’s pain-relieving power

Because the placebo control in that study was a nettle-like leaf with ZERO sting… and ZERO significant benefit!

In fact, the subjects in the study who experienced the MOST relief were the ones that experienced the sting MOST intensely.

They developed “weals” – a.k.a. a rash from the stinging nettle.

Here’s how MINOR that rash actually was…

According to the study’s authors, 85% of the subjects who experienced it said it was a perfectly acceptable side effect.

And HALF of them said it was better than their current pain treatment!

This DELIBERATE stinging of your skin with nettle leaf has a long history in folk medicine… known scientifically as urtication.

Now, the reason why it works could be as simple as the stinging nettle DISTRACTING you from your arthritis pain.

But when those tiny hairs “sting” your skin… they actually inject small amounts of chemicals, including histamine

TRIGGERING your body to mount an antihistamine response… which could BANISH excess inflammation in your joints.

To try urtication yourself, you’ll need fresh nettle leaves – something you might not find in the produce aisle of your local supermarket.

Instead, check your local farmers market or specialty produce market… or consult a forager who knows where to find some in the wild (that hasn’t been treated with pesticides).

You’ll only need to touch the stinging leaf for about 30 seconds in order to experience some joint relief. And it’s safe to do a couple of times daily… as long as you can tolerate the burning and itching from the sting.

Nettle leaf extract has also shown some promise in relieving the inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis

So you can cook nettle leaves to take the sting out of them… and enjoy eating them….

Or look for nettle supplements at your local health food store or online.

You may also be able to find nettle as a topical cream to rub into your skin surrounding the affected joints.

Nettle may appear on the ingredient list as urtica (Latin), ortica (Spanish), ortiga (Italian), or ortie (French).

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
