Your brain CRAVES this delicious snack… on a daily basis! [Time to stock up]
When older folks begin to lose hold of their precious memories… it’s easy to understand why they feel helpless.
But cognitive decline ISN’T inevitable.
In fact, there’s something you can add to your daily routine… starting TODAY… that could help PRESERVE your brain power…
And for years to come.
If you’re still sharp as a tack… it can help KEEP you that way.
And it can also help make sure you stay on your toes… well into your “golden years.”
It’s not a drug…
But its potential for BOOSTING your cognitive function has been seriously UNDERESTIMATED!
That is, until now.
A dairy dynamo
A recent study out of Iowa State University is the first to reveal how eating specific foods can be connected to cognitive sharpness later in life.
As one of the study co-authors stated, “Perhaps the silver bullet we’re looking for is upgrading how we eat.”
And at the top of the list of these “brain foods”?
Cheese!
And by a wide margin.
In the study, participants from the UK… some well into their 70s… took tests to determine their ability to “think on the fly.”
Scientists call that “fluid intelligence” – like being able to solve a problem going in “cold,” with no prior knowledge. It’s one of the cognitive functions that declines with Alzheimer’s.
The study authors compared those test results with the types of foods that the subjects reported eating over the course of a decade…
And the GREATEST protection appeared to come from a daily cheese habit.
Now, I’m not talking about cheap, processed “cheez”… like the stuff you get on your nacho chips or in your grandkids’ grilled cheese sandwiches.
Your brain can benefit MOST from natural, whole-fat cheeses… processed merely by fermentation!
Now, mold-fermented cheeses… like brie, blue cheese, and camembert… have also previously been associated with memory improvements.
And some of that may be because of their anti-inflammatory effects.
But researchers have also attributed at least some of their brain-boosting power to the presence of something called the GTWY peptide.
It’s a short chain of 4 memory-boosting amino acids:
- Glycine
- Threonine
- Tryptophan
- Tyrosine
On their own, these amino acids have been associated with cognitive improvements because of how they influence your brain chemicals – including your levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and dopamine.
They can also help promote healthy sleep.
Together, they appear to inhibit the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO), which is responsible for depleting your brain of not just serotonin and dopamine, but also norepinephrine.
MAO is a potential culprit behind the development of Alzheimer’s disease…
Which is why Big Pharma is looking into using MAO inhibitor drugs (best known as antidepressants) for patients with cognitive decline.
But it turns out you may not need any drug at all to keep your cognitive sharpness from falling off a cliff.
You may need to just up your cheese intake!
Want to go the extra mile?
Wash that cheese down with a glass of red wine, which this latest study also found to be associated with cognitive benefits.
If you’d rather take a supplement, look for any of the 4 amino acids I just mentioned individually… or together in an amino complex… from a quality maker you trust.
To feeding your brain the good stuff,
Melissa Young
