You know that a disease has hit the big time when it gets its own day.

Unfortunately, such is the case with NASH — non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

The very first International NASH Day was unveiled just last month. And as an indicator of how this deadly condition is striking all ages, it even has a cartoon mascot named “Mac’Liver.”

NASH, along with what precedes it, called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (or NAFLD), is a buildup of fat in your liver that leads to inflammation, damaged liver cells, and eventually cirrhosis. But as that long name suggests, this lethal liver condition has nothing at all to do with drinking alcohol.

Where adults are concerned, it’s expected to become the top cause of liver transplants in the next two years.

Researchers have even named it a “pandemic” and started calling for a “new gold standard” to nip this widespread liver condition in the bud.

Of course, you know what that means: That’s a kind of code telling Big Pharma to get its act together and come up with a drug — one that would cost around $1,000 a pill, of course!

But some researchers have also been busy trying to figure out non-drug approaches to these conditions — and one recently published study may have discovered the best therapy to date.

And as you’ve read right here in the eAlert, there are also several important steps you can take to safeguard your liver… ones that involve booting some known poisons out of your kitchen for good!

Kryptonite to the liver

NASH and NAFLD have now become so common that when a group of researchers overseas recently wanted to study kids with NASH, they managed to round up hundreds without any difficulty.

And that’s truly frightening.

But it makes sense when you consider how fructose fits into the rise of this liver-destroying condition.

If you go by the statistics, the introduction of high-fructose corn syrup marked the beginning of the climb in fatty liver disease. Prior to the pervasive use of this laboratory sweetener, those conditions were fairly rare, and most were certainly never seen in children!

Now, they have not only doubled in the last two decades… but for kids, the increase was a humungous 174 percent.

And HFCS, a cheap genetically modified sugar substitute, is as toxic to the liver as kryptonite is to Superman. Study after study has found a significant connection between ingesting all forms of processed fructose and liver damage.

Why, fructose is even pumped into lab rats to give them fatty liver disease so new drugs can be tested.

Along with HFCS, there are several other forms of fructose you need to avoid (I’ll give you a list in a minute).

But first, I want to tell you about a recently published study from an international group of researchers that uncovered a remarkable way to restore the health of your liver.

While the study was small, only involving 10 adults, there’s no reason to believe that these findings wouldn’t be just as successful for a much larger group.

The researchers were able to see “rapid and dramatic reductions of liver fat” in 10 volunteers (all suffering from NAFLD) by putting them on a low-carbohydrate and higher-protein diet. And when they say rapid, they really mean it.

This approach did its magic in only two weeks!

But along with cutting down on pasta, bread, and potatoes, the most important carb you should be eliminating totally from your diet is fructose. And it’s not just HFCS you need to watch out for.

Here are the top ingredients to avoid — all forms of processed fructose (meaning not in its whole, healthy form from a peach or pear) that can be found in every imaginable type of food and beverage.

#1. HFCS and all of its friends, such as the high-octane HFCS-90 (typically found in low-cal foods).

#2. Crystalline fructose, often added to “health” drinks and snack bars.

#3. Agave syrup, even if it’s organic! Agave, while it sounds healthy enough, can be up to 97 percent fructose!

And, of course, you might also see just plain old fructose (or “fruit sugar”) listed on a label.

But remember, that sweet name typically refers to something derived from GMO corn in the lab, and not fruit!

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
