Sickening new cholesterol scam pushed on patients
I recently shared with you how the latest science has concluded — practically beyond any shadow of a doubt — that using medication to lower cholesterol is “a total waste of time.”
Not only that, but the long-term effects of statins are so “devastating” that they should never have been approved for use in the first place.
So, why does this fable — that high cholesterol causes heart disease — still persist?
HSI’s very own Dr. Allan Spreen has a pretty good idea as to the reason, and I’m happy to share his thoughts with you below.
To challenging the great statin scam,

An offer you CAN refuse
There’s a SILENT COUP taking place RIGHT NOW, and this one isn’t going on in Washington.
I don’t do politics… and I don’t care about most politicians.
It’s taking place inside medicine!
The pharmaceutical industry has quietly seized control over medicine, and in the most insidious way possible.
It’s taken over something even more important than treatment guidelines (which they’ve been secretly writing for years).
The industry is INSIDE your doctor’s BRAIN!
That’s not even an exaggeration. It’s wormed its way into what your doctor knows and learns, and it has done it so completely and so effectively that he probably has NO CLUE what’s going on!
If you want to see the proof for yourself, just take a peek at the latest “education program” on cholesterol.
This is a “legitimate” program that gives docs “Continuing Medical Education” credit, something that’s required in many places in order to keep a medical license and/or hospital access.
But it’s completely ILLEGITIMATE by just about any other reasonable measure!
It’s not a pros-and-cons look at cholesterol and the latest science that shows how LDL control is overblown and exaggerated… and it’s not an objective risks-benefits analysis of LDL medication that includes the REAL chance the meds can give your patients diabetes.
NOPE!
It’s practically marketing material cooked up by the Big Pharma sales team — and maybe that’s what it is, at least on some level, since it was “supported” by an “independent educational grant” from Merck.
Somehow, the two experts who designed this “independent” program have both either served as advisors or consultants to Merck and a number of other drug companies.
Gee, no conflict of interest there!
They’ve cooked up a program that’s every bit as “independent” as you’d expect given that background: They’re pushing THREE new classes of meds in addition to statins.
And if patients don’t want them, it offers advice that sounds more like an ominous threat from a Godfather movie, saying those patients just need to be properly “motivated.”
Nice arteries you’ve got there… would be a shame if something happened to them.
It even claims that you can sneak more meds into a patient if they’re all hidden inside a single “combination” pill.
Remember, the average doc taking this class is ALREADY working at his practice full-time and then some, not to mention all the hours spent dealing with insurance-company hacks and paperwork. He’s not carefully investigating who made this course and why. He’s just trying to power through it to get his credit.
And THAT’S how the drug companies take over his mind — feeding him information he THINKS is fair and objective without him realizing he’s actually being turned into a drug salesman.
Here are two things you won’t find in an industry-backed “education” course.
First, LDL alone is an overblown risk factor cooked up to make money by selling drugs.
Second, if you do need to cut your LDL, you can often get results quickly by boosting fiber, taking a daily walk, and dropping a few pounds.
And now, YOU’VE got a better education on this than your doctor does!
