You may have heard the recent shocking news how arthritis is becoming so common that one in four adults in the U.S. now suffers from it.

On top of that, the CDC says that people are becoming afflicted with this painful condition at younger and younger ages, with 60 percent of victims between 18 and 64.

The head of the Arthritis Foundation says that in the past three decades, she has seen the numbers of sufferers “go up and up.”

But why?

The answer might be found right in the homes of millions of Americans — coming straight out of their faucets.

Something in the water

The knowledge that excess fluoride can cause both “chronic joint pain” and “arthritic symptoms” is not new. In fact, those two quotes came right from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (the parent agency of the CDC) almost 30 years ago!

And many other studies done over the years and around the world have clearly connected the two.

But if you ask the feds, they’ll tell you that arthritis from fluoride can only happen if someone is exposed to very large amounts of the chemical. In that case, they could develop a crippling condition called “skeletal fluorosis.” By the time that happens, however, arthritis is the least of your worries!

But tons of research over the years has found that doesn’t appear to be the case.

For example:

  • A study done five years ago found that the levels of fluoride in the “general population” are high enough to activate an inflammatory enzyme in the body that’s associated with arthritis. The researchers said that even in “small concentrations,” fluoride can cause that to happen.
  • Other studies have uncovered how fluoride can aggravate and intensify pre-existing arthritis.
  • And over three decades ago, New Zealand scientists wrote that younger adults who have been diagnosed with RA might very well have “early bone fluorosis” instead.

Considering all the things we already know about how fluoride can damage almost every part of our body, the connection between fluoride and arthritis is no surprise.

But the feds at this point have a vested interest in keeping water fluoridation at the status quo. Its biggest backers come right out of the CDC — the same agency that’s sending out all those press releases about how many Americans suffer from this crippling ailment!

The bottom line is: There’s scant evidence that water fluoridation is good for kids’ teeth, and yet there’s plenty of chilling evidence that it can cause big damage to the bones and joints of everyone exposed to it. And that’s at the everyday levels that millions of Americans are getting from their taps.

It’s time we stopped buying into the Great Fluoride Myth once and for all. And here are three of the best ways to start doing that:

#1: If your tap water is fluoridated, get a reverse osmosis water purifier to remove it. Water filters like Brita and other pitcher filters won’t get rid of fluoride, which is a very fine particle.

#2: Don’t let your dentist sell you on a fluoride treatment or on giving fluoride tablets to your kids or grandkids.

#3: Banish fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash from your home. Fluoride-free toothpaste is now easy to find almost anywhere.

And if you’re currently suffering from arthritis, getting as much fluoride out of your life as possible is extremely important. Some research has suggested that early arthritis symptoms may disappear entirely when you stop ingesting this toxic substance.
