Welcoming Dr. Joshua Levitt to the HSI Advisory Panel!
I’m very excited to introduce you to the newest member of the HSI Advisory Panel, Dr. Joshua Levitt.
As you know, the HSI Panel is comprised of world-renowned specialists across all fields of medicine, including alternative practices that focus on healing and healthy living. Our members are some of the most well-informed people there are when it comes to health issues!
And while I usually use this space to warn you about foods or drugs that you need to look out for, I think you’ll be very interested in Dr. Levitt’s unique approach to some common health problems.
Dr. Levitt is extremely well-versed in nutrition and herbal and physical medicine with over 15 years of clinical practice experience. He has a degree in physiology from UCLA and received his doctorate in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University and is the well-respected author of countless articles on natural health solutions and many popular books including The 21-Day Anti-Inflammatory Reboot, The Coffee Solution, Detox Revolution, and The Honey Phenomenon.
But what really sets him apart is that he’s amazingly skilled in both conventional AND natural medicine, so he’s able to draw upon many different treatment options for his patients.
He’ll make you rethink everything you’ve ever learned about “taking your medicine”!
In particular, people come from all over the country to see him at his practice in Connecticut for his unique method of treating chronic pain.
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with him to talk about what he’s got in store for us. Keep reading for an excerpt of our conversation, plus a hint at something very special he’s working on that I know you’ll want to learn more about.
JT: Welcome to HSI, Dr. Levitt. We’re all every excited to have you join our Advisory Panel! Can you tell our readers about some of common health problems you see in your clinic every day, and some of the treatments for them that have been most successful?
JL: Thanks Jenny, I’m also very excited and looking forward to being a part of HSI.
Okay, so many of the problems people see me about practically mirror the kinds of topics you write about every day… such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and digestive problems. I often tell patients that we can treat the disease, but unless the root cause of an illness is addressed, you’re pretty much just applying a patch to fix a leak — one that will only hold for so long.
JT: Can you give us an example?
JL: Sure. Let’s take someone who frequently comes down with infections. Every bug that’s going around they seem to get, some minor and some very serious. When I treat patients with chronic infections, I treat both the organism and the host — because if you just treat the bug, often with antibiotics, you’re ignoring half the equation.
JT: And of course antibiotic overuse has made many of these lifesaving drugs useless.
JL: Exactly, which is why it’s vital to put an emphasis on beefing up your own natural defense system — making your immune system as strong as it can be with other types of “medicine.”
I tell my patients that food is medicine, movement is medicine, sleep is medicine and, of course, stress management is medicine, too!
JT: I’m sure many of our readers wish their doctors would focus more on these kinds of “medicines,” rather than just sending them out the door with a prescription!
Can you tell us the number-one complaint that patients come to your clinic with?
JL: I sure can! It’s chronic pain. Neck and shoulder pain, pain in the knees, feet, wrists, hands, backs, legs, debilitating headaches… And constant pain can steal your life away.
I’ve been treating — and more importantly — successfully reversing pain for my patients using a method that practically anyone can follow. Actually it consists of four steps that take only a few minutes a day.
JT: I know that you’ve created something very exciting that will be a Godsend to our readers suffering from chronic pain.
JL: Yes, I’ve been working on putting a “treatment plan” together that anyone in pain — whether it came on suddenly or developed over many years of cumulative trauma — can take advantage of to get real relief.
JT: I can’t wait to share it with my readers, Dr. Levitt! Thank you so much!
JL: Thanks, Jenny. I know it will make a tremendous difference for a lot of people who are living with chronic pain.
Stay tuned!
