It takes the whole afternoon to pick out your tree and bring it home, more hours spent stringing (and untangling!) the lights, adding the ornaments and then standing back to say “ahh.”

But if you don’t keep your tree well watered, it could only take five seconds for it to go up in flames.

I know that sounds like a pretty simple thing to remember, but every year there are over 200 home fires caused by dried-out Christmas trees.

Other ways to reduce the chances of having your holidays go up in smoke, include:

  • Picking out a tree with fresh-looking green needles, and check a branch or two with your hand to make sure not too many fall off.
  • Having at least two inches cut off the trunk base before it goes in the stand.
  • And put your tree in the right location — experts say you need at least three feet between your tree and any source of heat.

And while we thankfully don’t light up our trees with candles anymore, candle fires still happen. In fact, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the top two days for these kinds of fires.

So before you strike that match, make sure those candles aren’t close to any holiday decorations, plants or even the tree itself.

Meet the Health Sciences Institute

The Health Sciences Institute (HSI) is an independent organization established in 1998. We’re dedicated to uncovering and researching the most urgent advances in modern underground medicine. Things you WON’T hear about in the mainstream.

Whether they come from a laboratory in Malaysia, a clinic in South America, or a university in Germany, our goal is to bring the treatments that work directly to the people who need them. We alert our Members to exciting breakthroughs in medicine, show them exactly where to go to learn more, and help them understand how they and their families can benefit from these powerful discoveries.
