There’s more than one way to control chronic heartburn. An HSI member named Joan wrote to share her successful method…

“Just needed to share this with you. I have suffered with heartburn for years and no matter what I ate or drank or didn’t eat or drink I would have heartburn almost all day.

“About three months ago I decided to see if it was the regular coffee I drank every morning. I started using decaf and I have not had heartburn since.

“So if any of your readers are experiencing the same symptoms and drink regular coffee, maybe they should try switching. Decaf doesn’t wake you up as fast as regular in the morning but it beats not having heartburn all day.

“P.S. I never used any of those meds and never will.”

Joan’s experience is a good reminder. Many health issues stem from simple problems that can be solved without resorting to powerful drugs. Trying out changes in diet or daily habits often produces great results.

Meanwhile, experimenting with a variety of different drug “solutions” usually just leads to more health problems and more drugs.
