A new health privacy regulation has prompted the CVS drugstore chain to discontinue its drug refill reminder program.

Really? Having an employee review your records, call and leave a message that it’s time for your refill is a privacy concern? I guess we should be relieved they hadn’t found a way to post it on your Facebook status.

Now, the refill reminder program wasn’t something CVS execs did out of a selfless desire to help patients stay healthy. They made money off the program. And that money came from the drug industry.

Yes…CVS was shilling to keep the Rx’s coming and make sure the pills were swallowed. Good business for Big Pharma, good business for CVS…bad medicine for you and me.

So what will drug companies do now to “remind” you to take your pills?

I’m sure they’re looking into that Facebook thing as we speak.

Dis-like!
