The ADHD drug problem is worse than ever, and it’s about to explode
Ten years ago, I told you that the widespread medication of children who are stamped with an ADHD diagnosis would create a monster. It has. And for once, I really wish I hadn’t been right.
I predicted that medicating children would send kids a message that they can solve life’s problems with drugs. That was not a risky call to make. It seems pretty obvious, doesn’t it?
Years ago, their parents, doctors, and teachers told them, “Take this. It’s good for you.”
Those kids are in college now. And they’re using ADHD medications as “study drugs.”
You can’t fault them for believing what all the adults in their lives taught them.
But things are much different now. Now kids are going into rehab for addiction. Some die of overdose. And some are jailed for sharing or selling their drugs.
But instead of controlling this crisis, the medical mainstream is about to ENLARGE it. The New York Times reports that the American Psychiatric Association will soon change the definition of ADHD. And that change will expand the diagnosis to include more kids.
More use…more illegal use…more addiction…more shattered lives.
Now it’s more urgent than ever to help get the word out to parents and grandparents. These seemingly “useful” drugs may solve temporary problems. But they carry deadly dangers that don’t become obvious until it’s too late.
