Sign the petition to make sure alternative medicine is represented in the Affordable Healthcare Act
If you’ve wondered how complementary and alternative medicine might fit in with the Affordable Healthcare Act, you’re not alone.
Fortunately, HSI Medical Editor, Dr. Marty Milner, N.D., is taking steps to make sure CAM is well represented.
Here’s an urgent message I received from Dr. Milner this week…
“Now that the presidential election is over, the future of the Affordable Healthcare Act is no longer in question.
“One of our NDs posted a petition on the White House site, ‘We the People,’ asking the government to include Naturopathic Doctors as primary care providers under the Affordable Healthcare Act (aka Obamacare).
“While the health reform bill currently provides for the inclusion of ‘complementary and alternative medicine practitioners,’ it does not specify how NDs can participate. It is our hope that the petition will allow the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) an opportunity to begin discussions within the government to explore possibilities.
“But first the petition needs signatures — 25,000 (or, hopefully, many, many more) by Dec. 7. There are currently more than 15,000 signatures. We encourage everyone to sign and send this petition out to all your friends and associates.”
Please join Dr. Milner and me in signing this important petition, which you can find at wh.gov/9OGo
