You can easily protect your vision health as you age
You don’t need to have a dangerous drug injected into your eyeball to save your sight. At least not if you know about the AREDS regimen.
Years ago, I first told you about the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) — an ongoing clinical trial sponsored by the National Eye Institute.
In that study, this specific combination of supplements helped prevent age-related macular degeneration:
* Vitamin C — 500 mg
* Vitamin E — 400 IU
* Beta-carotene — 15 mg
* Zinc (as zinc oxide) — 80 mg
* Copper (as cupric oxide) — 2 mg
The website for Macular Degeneration Research notes that this combo may also help prevent intermediate AMD from progressing to the advanced stage.
No question, that’s great news. And you can give it a boost with dietary choices that include lutein and zeaxanthin — antioxidant-rich carotenoids that reduce AMD risk. Colorful fruits and vegetables, and egg yolks are the best sources of lutein and zeaxanthin.
