This new wound care method might revolutionize the way we treat cuts and abrasions
Okay…I’m amazed. And it’s in a GOOD way this time.
Paul Duxbury — a longtime friend of HSI — recently contacted me about a new product his company now represents.
That company, by the way, produces Nasaleze, which I’ve told you about many times. It’s the organic powered plant extract that’s sniffed into the nostrils and creates a mucus-like gel that protects nasal passages from pollen and other irritants.
The new product is called ElastoGum — a type of bandage that I honestly believe could revolutionize wound care.
Paul sent me a few samples and I shared one of the boxes with a friend named Lauren.
Meanwhile I waited for a chance to use my sample. I figured I’d need it soon enough — like when I sliced a finger preparing food or got a paper cut at the office (another great thing about going virtual…no more paper cuts!) — and then I’d put ElastoGum to the test.
Days went by. Weeks. Nothing. I started to wonder just how often I actually hurt myself badly enough to get out the BandAids. I thought it was more often.
Then the phone rang. It was Lauren, just back from a week at the beach, and she started off our conversation with this: “That stuff is amazing!”
See, Lauren has a husband and three — count ’em! — three young boys. And while they were away they suffered various small cuts, abrasions, and burns. That’s kind of what life is like around her house.
So she raved about ElastoGum.
First of all, her kids loved it because it never hurts taking it off. ElastoGum adheres to itself, so it doesn’t need to stick directly to skin.
But to Lauren the best feature was the fact that it’s waterproof. Once ElastoGum is snug against the skin, water rolls right off — it can’t get to the wound at all. But ElastoGum is breathable, so it actually keeps water out while allowing enough air in to let the wound heal naturally.
Meanwhile, ElastoGum forms a tough exterior, giving any wound much better protection from bumping and scraping than a BandAid. But if you ARE using a BandAid, you can wrap ElastoGum over it for extra protection or waterproofing —
perfect for jumping in the pool, digging in the sand, preparing food, etc.
ElastoGum comes in long strips covered with paper on both sides. So you just cut it to the size you need, peel off the paper, and affix the bandage. That means it’s perfect for small wounds, larger wounds, and even those wounds that occur in awkward places that can be difficult to bandage.
If there’s one drawback, it’s a small one. Lauren said that it’s a little difficult to put it on yourself if you’re placing it on a hand wound. In that case, it’s best to have someone else put it on for you so they can pull it taut, which can be tricky with only one free hand.
Other than that, Lauren was completely sold on ElastoGum and told me to tell Paul she’ll be a steady customer.
Actually, Paul has a generous introductory offer that’s likely to make Lauren an even happier customer.
As a welcome to e-Alert readers, Paul has decided to make ElastoGum available on a buy-on-get-one-free basis. That sale starts today and will run for two weeks. To order, just go to www.elastogum.im (but make sure you use the extension .im or you’ll find yourself on a site that’s all in German).
The cost is £9.95 (converting to about $16.35 the day I checked), and shipping runs about $1.65 to anywhere in the U.S. That may seem like a lot, but with the buy-one-get-one-free deal, you’ll receive about 6.5 feet of ElastoGum. Imagine how long six feet of BandAids would last you!
And by the way, neither the e-Alert nor HSI makes any profit from the sale of ElastoGum.
As for me, I still haven’t gotten to try it yet, but I’m thinking of cutting a bagel later…just to speed things along.
