I can’t resist sharing another gem from Dr. Ornish.

In his Atkins-slamming article he writes: “A recent study reviewed in The New England Journal of Medicine found that an Atkins-type diet ‘promotes atherosclerosis (heart disease)…”

Wow. Impressive. New England Journal of Medicine. I wonder how many readers will jump to the conclusion that the study was published in NEJM?

In fact, the study (apparently not yet published) comes from a research hospital in Orlando, FL. But it was “reviewed” in NEJM. And according to the review, this research that links an Atkins-type diet to atherosclerosis is…a mouse study.

Dr. Ornish doesn’t mention that. And you can’t blame him. It’s hard to convince people to make a lifetime dietary commitment based on a single mouse study.

And I don’t know if you’re thinking what I’m thinking, but…a mouse study…that comes out of Orlando? Has anyone checked on Mickey?

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
