Using poison as a treatment for kids? FDA! Say it ain’t so!
“Would we put it past them? For even one second?”
That was the note I sent back to my sister after she sent me an FDA article with this headline: “FDA approves pediatric use of chemical poisoning treatment.”
FDA officials have backed a lot of dangerous drugs over the years, but would they actually okay the use of chemical poison as a treatment for children?
In fact, that headline refers to FDA approval of a drug called Protopam Chloride that treats poisoning by pesticide chemicals.
Whew!
But…hmmm…I hope this doesn’t give anyone the big idea to expand the market for pesticide chemicals as some kind of “off label” treatment.
In Big Pharma world, stranger things have happened!
